2023 Holiday Concert - "White Christmas"

I am absolutely thrilled to share the incredible success of our Holiday Recital at Be Sharp! The theme was "White Christmas," and I couldn't be more proud of how the entire event unfolded. From the get-go, we encouraged everyone to dress in icy colors like whites, blues, and silvers. The result? Almost everyone embraced the theme, creating a magical sea of colours that added an extra layer of joy to the afternoon.

Our recital drew an amazing turnout of over 170 people, and to accommodate the unexpected numbers, we had to set up more chairs. A true testament to the overwhelming support we have from our community—a good problem to have!

We kicked off the concert with a special teacher performance of the classic "Miser Song" from A Year Without Santa Claus. Picture this: Amanda playing the melodica, Nick on the kazoo, me on the piano, and Syd and Karen accompanying us with percussion. To cap it off, we had Santa Claus join us on stage, adding that extra touch of holiday magic.

Our students truly stole the show with their outstanding performances. From singing to ukulele, guitar, and piano pieces, the variety was both impressive and heartwarming. I was especially touched by the sibling performances, like the piano duet of "Go Tell it on the Mountain" and the sister act performing "Rudolf the Rednose Reindeer."

Even our littlest ones showcased their courage by playing and singing on their ukuleles. Imagine the adorableness of two little ones playing "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Jingle Bells."

Our Musical Theatre classes took the stage as well, with the littlest students delivering a heartwarming performance of "Where are You Christmas." Their adorable struggle with pronouncing 'r's added an extra layer of cuteness. The older group, on the other hand, took on the challenge of "sparklejollytwinklejingley" from the Musical Elf. Watching them sing and dance to this song was nothing short of amazing.

The concert had it all—classic Christmas songs, a non-Christmas piece of "When the Flowers need the Rain," and a delightful closure with Amanda singing "White Christmas." The grand finale featured all the teachers coming back on stage for a performance of "You're a Mean One Mister Grinch," complete with a mischievous Grinch coming on stage causing a bit of trouble.

I'm incredibly grateful for the talented students at our studio and the unwavering support we receive. The success of this recital has me eagerly looking forward to what our students will bring to the stage in our next recital in June. Cheers to the magic of music and the wonderful community at Be Sharp!
