2026 End of Year Concert

This year’s End of Year Concert was truly something special. Our theme was Music Festival, and it absolutely lived up to the name. We hosted the event at Truth Community Church, and with 38 students performing across two shows, the energy from start to finish was incredible.

There’s something really magical about concert day-the excitement backstage, the nerves, the last-minute warm-ups, and then seeing everything come together on stage.

One of my absolute favourite moments of the night was when the staff performed “Bring Me to Life.” Honestly, getting all the teachers together is like solving a puzzle with missing pieces most of the time, so we only had one night to rehearse together… but we did it. And it actually worked! Definitely one of those “how did we pull that off?” moments.

There were so many standout student performances this year. Isa performing “Beautiful Life” was a big one for me-she was so nervous going on stage, but she pushed through and absolutely crushed it. Those are the moments that stick with you.

I also loved Hazel’s performance of “Ruin My Life.” So confident and engaging on stage. Jaden’s “Moonlight” was really creative too, especially the way he moved between ukulele and drums-it was awesome to watch. Andrea’s “Traitors” stood out as well, especially with the cajon and foot tambourine. So cool to see students experimenting with rhythm in different ways. And Alex opening the show with “O Canada” was the perfect way to kick everything off.

We also had some amazing group moments through our Mash-Up program. Bre & Harper performing “Dandelion,” and Issy & Quinn performing “Do It All Alone” were both fantastic examples of collaboration and growth on stage.

And of course, we had our youngest performer steal the show-Natalie, just four years old, performing “Baa Baa Black Sheep” on boomwhackers. Moments like that are just the best.

There were definitely a few behind-the-scenes moments too… like me tripping over the drums. We’ll call that part of the “live festival experience.”

We also had one of our students, Elianah, volunteer during the event, which was amazing to see. That kind of community support really makes these events what they are.

Most of all, both shows were packed with families and friends cheering everyone on. The support in the room was unreal, and you could feel how proud everyone was of each other.
